Bamboo is such an amazing plant; one I've always seen as utile and exotic. Its versatility seems to be unknown here however. Sure, you see bamboo woven vertically through the strands of a barbed wire fence once in a while to give almost the effect of a privacy fence, but for the most part, it seems that stands of bamboo serve only to halt the blowing trash like snow fences, or as hiding places where garbage can be conveniently put out of sight.

Sometimes it's grown around the perimter of a yard, creating an impenetrable fence all on its own.

Then there are the more modern fences topped with barbed wire or concertina wire coils, which surround nearly every building and lot.

And then very sharp objects of a completely different nature. Don't try to ride a bike around here unless you have sealant inside your tubes, or the closed cell inner-tube replacement.

Sealant coming out to seal the hole. The first day I went out, I came back to discover 17 goat thorn punctures.
Oh yeah! Don't even think about walking outside barefoot!
