This seems such a significant date as it pertains to gardening. Up north it's the day you can safely put your tomatoes out... at least usually. When we were in Berwick, ME, we put them out as usual, only to have a killing frost wipe them all out on June 6th.
 
Anyway, the contrast between tentatively planting the tender plants compared to what they already look like here just struck me.
 
Here are 3 of the remaining 5 peppers then... on the date we'd normally just be putting them out.
I planted 6, but the moles killed one, and chewed halfway through the stem of the center one here. That setback is why it's noticeably shorter than its two companions.

and a couple of the Better Boy tomatoes... planted 4 but only 3 remain. One of the dogs dug one up trying to get to a mole.
